New Survey Shows Making Health Care More Affordable is a Top Concern of Small Business Owners

Making health care more affordable is a top concern of small business owners, who say that health care costs are the primary issue confronting their businesses. More than one in three small business owners (36 percent) say that rising costs are likely to cause them to cut some portion of health insurance benefits for their employees, according to America's Small Business Owners and Health Reform: Key Findings from Qualitative and Quantitative Research 2008, a survey funded by the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation.

Report: Kids with Health Insurance Get Needed Care, While Uninsured Kids Go Without

A report on children’s health shows that having health insurance makes an enormous difference in whether kids receive the care they need, especially if they are chronically ill. The study, released by the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation (RWJF) and conducted by researchers at the University of Minnesota, shows that insured children are three times more likely to visit a doctor’s office in the course of a year than are uninsured children. Insured kids are also far more likely to have had a regular check-up to keep them healthy.

In addition to showing that children with insurance receive important health care services, the report takes a deeper look at kids with chronic health conditions, such as asthma or diabetes.

New Study Shows Americans' Access to Medical Care Deteriorates

The number and proportion of Americans reporting going without or delaying needed medical care increased sharply between 2003 and 2007; according to findings from the Center for Studying Health System Change, access deteriorated for both insured and uninsured people. Read the full article
