Back-to-School Campaign

More than 9 million kids are living without health insurance. Most of these children are eligible for low-cost or free health care coverage through Medicaid or the Children's Health Insurance Program (CHIP), but many working parents may not realize their children could be eligible for this coverage. Because of these important programs, millions of children can see a doctor when they are sick and get the care they need to stay healthy.

This summer, the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation will bring together organizations and individuals in all 50 states and the District of Columbia for the tenth annual Back-to-School Campaign to help enroll eligible children in Medicaid and CHIP. We hope you will join this nationwide mobilization by:

  • Conducting outreach through local schools to help enroll potentially eligible families in Medicaid and CHIP;
  • Planning an enrollment event;
  • Using the template letter to the editor and/or op-ed at www.CoverTheUninsured.org to write your local newspaper about the availability of low-cost or free health care coverage through Medicaid or CHIP;
  • Telling people you know with uninsured children to call 1(877) KIDS-NOW to find out if their kids are eligible for low-cost or free health coverage through Medicaid or CHIP.
