About the Back-to-School Campaign
The eighth annual Back-to-School Campaign took place in August and September with events and activities across the country designed to demonstrate demand for the State Children's Health Insurance Program (SCHIP) and to get eligible uninsured children enrolled.
The annual Back-to-School Campaign gets the word out to parents that low-cost or free health care coverage may be available for their uninsured children. The campaign and its partners reach millions of families by:
- Organizing thousands of events and activities across the months of August and September to encourage parents to enroll their uninsured children in public health coverage programs (Medicaid and SCHIP)
- Encouraging national organizational partners to distribute information through their Web sites, listserv announcements, newsletters, conferences and mailings
- Forming partnerships with corporations to promote messages about the availability of low-cost and free health care coverage to parents
- Working with media partners that help spread the word to parents by airing advertisements and public service announcements
- Recruiting high-profile sports figures and celebrities to participate in campaign activities
