Genia Jones

Genia Jones is an elementary school teacher in Hampton, Va., with a busy class of 21 students. Her husband, James, is studying to become a music teacher. They have three children, Dylan, 9; Chloe, 5; and Evan, eight months. Genia was distributing FAMIS (Virginia's CHIP) fliers to her students when she realized that her family may qualify. She contacted FAMIS to find out more about the program, and all three of her children were quickly approved for enrollment. Because of FAMIS, Genia's children are up to date on their immunizations and have recently visited the doctor and dentist for checkups. According to Genia, "With three children and my husband in school, we couldn't afford access to the quality health care we get through FAMIS." Now Genia and James no longer have to worry about what would happen if Dylan falls off his bike or Evan or Chloe become sick.
