New York State Department of Health Fall Day of Health at the Clinton Bailey 5th annual Harvest Fest
The Clinton Bailey Farmers Market is partnering with the New York State Department of Health, Western Regional Office to sponsor a Fall Day of Health and Healthy Living Harvest Celebration. Healthy nutrition and preventive care will be provided along with health screenings.
The Clinton Bailey Farmers Market is a destination shopping area for many Western New York residents. We estimate there will be approximately 10,000 shoppers coming through this event because of the produce available on this weekend. There will also be a tribute to the firefighters who lost their lives battling the fire on Genesee St. last month. The market is preparing press releases and has invited elected officials to participate. There is a great opportunity to connect the uninsured to health insurance and provide an excellent health screening fair for area residents. The prevention quality indicators for these zip codes demonstrate a need to educate residents on diabetes, asthma, respiratory illnesses and circulatory disease. For example, diabetes admissions to area hospitals from these zip codes are 147% as compared to the rest of New York State.
