IMPORTANT UPDATE: As part of the economic stimulus package, if you were involuntarily terminated between September 1, 2008, and December 31, 2009, and your annual income does not exceed $125,000 for an individual or $250,000 for a family, you may qualify for subsidies to cover 65 percent of the cost of health insurance premiums under COBRA for as long as nine months.
