A Needed Lifeline: Chronically Ill Children and Public Health Insurance Coverage
A report released August 14 by the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation on children's health shows that having health insurance makes an enormous difference in whether kids receive the care they need, especially if they are chronically ill. The study shows that nationwide, more than one in three kids with chronic illness in the United States is covered by SCHIP or Medicaid, and insured children are three times more likely to visit the doctor than uninsured children.
